Even if you have an already established business or lets say you have some marketing material with a logo but you do not have original files, we can help with that! Our graphic designers can recreate so you can proceed with branding your business with signs, banners, trade show products and more! The most important thing in a business is having your signage & logo look appealing and be high quality. Here is some info to explain this further:
There are two main type of image files: Raster and Vector. Raster images are made of pixels and created with pixel-based programs (ex Photoshop) or captured with a camera or scanner. If you zoom into a raster image you may start to see a lot of little tiny squares. They are more common in file types: jpg, gif, png, and are widely used on the web.
Vector images are mathematical calculations from one point to another that form lines and shapes. If you zoom into a vector graphic, it will always look the same. Whether you are creating a business card or billboard, the file will always maintain its quality. Vector graphics are commonly used for logos, illustrations, technical drawings and for use with processes that require vector art such as specialty signs and printing, engraving and etching.
There are many raster and vector programs out there but the most common are Adobe Illustrator, CorelDRAW & Photoshop.
ADOBE ILLUSTRATOR:
Files from Adobe Illustrator should be saved with an .AI or .EPS extension with the fonts converted to outlines or included with your files. If images are placed in the file, the original images must be included as separate files when you send us your artwork. Please note: Placing Photoshop images in Illustrator does not automatically make them vector images.
Files from CorelDRAW should be saved with the file extensions .CDR or .EPS with fonts converted to outlines.
CorelDRAW:
PHOTOSHOP:
Since Photoshop creates raster images, it is best for photos. You should only use Photoshop for items that will be digitally printed.
Some of the files for saving artwork end up looking blurry and unclear when they’re printed. These include low-resolution images well as file formats not made for art programs, like .DOC and .PPT files. Art submitted in any of these file formats might have to be redrawn or recreated. While sometimes we can work with these files, it may affect the processing time of your order. Please also know that depending on the size and quality of the image, we may or may not be able to use images or logos you sent us. But no worries, we are here to make sure your artwork is printed at the best possible quality and that you product will make your business stand out above everyone else!
One last thing and something we get quite often is “Can I just save my file as .AI, .EPS, or .CDR and make it vectored? The answer to that is there is no “easy fix” to convert your existing artwork into a vectored format. By simply saving your file with a vector extension will not make your artwork vectored. Remember, in order for an image to be vectored, it needs to be built from scratch in a program like Adobe Illustrator or CorelDRAW. Keep in mind that professionally-designed artwork usually has a vectored version somewhere, but not every computer can open it. Vector files requires a vector program. Sometimes you can find a vector file on your computer that you didn’t even know you had. Typically, if you have the appropriate design program on your computer, you will see icons, but if not, the icons will appear as plain paper icons.
